While MTV is celebrating it’s 20th birthday they’re not alone in this celebration. This month also marks the 20th birthday of the the thong.

In 1981, Fredericks of Hollywood saw the trend coming and responded by becoming the first retailer to introduce the thong to a shocked American public. What they didn’t know was that so little could mean so much! What was once the "scanty panty" is now the most essential item in every woman’s wardrobe.

Are these two items a coincidence…..perhaps we’ll never know.
